In the tribal heartland of Madhya Pradesh, the walls of homes have long whispered stories through vibrant Pithora paintings. Abhedya recognized the untapped potential of this traditional art and launched the Art Project—not just to preserve culture, but to empower young tribal girls.
Recognizing this gap, Abhedya launched the Art for Expression Project—an initiative to bring color, imagination, and storytelling into the lives of rural children, while also connecting them to future opportunities through art-based income generation. Many of these girls, previously unaware of the value of their heritage, now see their skills as a source of income and identity. The community, especially mothers, proudly watches their daughters turn tradition into opportunity.
Turning Art into Opportunity
As part of this initiative, Abhedya launched DirectFromArtist.in — a platform where rural children and emerging village artists can showcase and sell their artwork. This project aims to:
Give young artists a voice and a sense of validation
Teach them how to photograph, package, price, and describe their work
Introduce them to e-commerce basics and marketplace exposure
