Overview:
For students in Rasulia, Berkhedi, and Khakerdol, learning once took place in dilapidated classrooms—leaky ceilings, broken benches, and unusable or absent toilets. The learning environment was neither safe nor dignified. Abhedya stepped in to change that through the School Infrastructure Renovation project.
Today, these schools welcome children with newly painted classrooms, functional toilets, clean drinking water, and sturdy furniture—laying the foundation for better learning outcomes and student dignity.
What We Do:
Abhedya works closely with school staff and community members to assess on-ground needs and execute impactful renovations, including:
Classroom repairs and fresh painting
Construction and renovation of toilets and handwash stations
Repairing water pipelines and installing drinking water taps
Installation of fans, lights, blackboards, and benches
Building ramps and accessibility features for differently-abled students
Introducing smart classroom tools to bring digital education to rural learners
Each upgrade is targeted to improve functionality, safety, and student engagement. For girls, access to clean toilets has significantly boosted attendance and confidence.
Human Impact:
The transformation is evident in daily life:
Increased school attendance among children
Enhanced classroom energy and discipline, as observed by teachers
Greater parental trust—especially from mothers—about sending their daughters to school
